Virtual Support Residency: (Pre-Candidacy) Year 4 and Beyond

The Virtual Support Residency (VSR) is a virtual weekend experience each trimester designed to support 4th year (and beyond) Pre-Candidacy students who are working on their Learning Achievements (LA). Participation in each trimester’s VSR is highly recommended for all pre-candidacy post-third year year and beyond students and is required for all students on SAP Learning Plans, unless otherwise stipulated by one’s advisor.

All VSRs are designed to have the student set aside a full weekend with specific LA goals. Prior to signing up for the VSR, students should consult with their advisor regarding their participation and establish concrete, realistic, and constructive goals for the VSR.

The purpose of the VSR is to provide a set-aside time, peer support, and accountability systems that help to achieve realistic goals towards the completion of specific LAs.

General Format:

1. Navigating Kick-off session: Friday 4:00-5:30pm PT/7:00-8:30pm ET

This Friday evening kick-off will be a time to meet with Elaine and Steve, ask questions about the program and navigating academic progress, share reflections and one’s specific VSR goals. Zoom-VSR Zoom Room https://antioch.zoom.us/my/gslcvsr

2. Writing Motivational session: TBD This session will be to meet with and get inspired together and answer writing questions as a collective with best practices and ideas. Held in Elaine's Zoom Room: https://antioch.zoom.us/my/egale

3. Both Saturday and Sunday are then focused on individual student work to achieve one’s stated goals.
   1. Steve Shaw will be available throughout for scheduled library search sessions.
   2. Other faculty may be available depending on prior planning with Steve.
   3. Peer accountability check-ins and accountability partnering opportunities will be set up for both days.
4. Sunset Sunday session: 3-4:00pm PT/6-7 ET As the sun sets on the weekend, Elaine, Steve, and the full group meet back together for this closing session. Participants will share achievement of goals.
