[E] Session: Introduction to Survey Research (3 weeks)
Overview
Survey research design is a commonly used approach to inquiry. You've probably participated in a survey answering myriad questions using checkboxes or radio buttons and perhaps even fill in the blank or two. Surveys are typically used to gauge the opinions and perspectives of those taking the survey. Often surveys are used to try and assess constructs that are hard to hard to observe or measure.
During this three-part session we will begin with an overview of survey designs, talk about types of survey items, examine rules for developing items and think about the implications question structure on data collected. We’ll also cover some tips for evaluating surveys you see in published work.
It’s helpful to have a topic area of interest to gain the most out of this session.
